11/13/09 Added some pictures of the inside of the "L'Integrale MacGyver" book today on the Merchandise page.

09/02/09 Check out this cool fanmade animated MacGyver intro. (The link's also up on the Fanwork page. Wouldn't that make for a neat MacGyver video game? :-)

09/01/09 Added a couple of neat items to the Merchandise page, including another view of the MacGyver soundtrack LP and a MacGyver pin. Also, there's a few links to some funny MacGyver photo manipulations on the Miscellaneous page, as well as a neat custom made MacGyver action figure on the Fanwork page.

08/27/09 Found another TV theme song book featuring the MacGyver theme song and added its picture to the Merchandise page. Also added some pictures of a 12'' scale custom made MacGyver action figure to the Fanwork page.

08/24/09 Added another shot of the Panini MacGyver stickers, with a bit of updated information on them as well.

08/21/09 Got some nice new pictures of an ABC promotional MacGyver poster, Galaxis' original release of the official MacGyver soundtrack CD, the first German MacGyver VHS video, and lots of pictures from the Portuguese company Soracious' MacGyver sticker book, as well as a neat German limited edition MacGyver Season 1 DVD release that included a MacGyver logo emblazoned Swiss Army Knife, all up on the Merchandise page.

08/20/09 Added a little bit more information about the MacGyver bubble gum to the Merchandise page. Also added another picture of the Ja-Ru Vehicle Set.

08/13/09 The "MacGruber" movie does indeed seem to be coming together and is set for release on April 16, 2010, according to its IMDB page. Jorma Taccone is attached as the director and some of the actors and actresses are listed on the page as well. Also, this site offers a synopsis of the movie plot and also reveals that the movie will probably carry a hard "R" rating. I must say that I am not particularly looking forward to this movie. Let's hope that a real MacGyver movie can still get made sometime. In other news, I've added some links to another MacGyver-inspired band on the Miscellaneous page. Apparently a Norwegian rock band called Phoenix Foundation not only has a name inspired by MacGyver, but also sings songs based on episodes and characters. Sounds interesting to check out. There's also a link on the Merchandise page to more information on the "MacGyver 100th. episode" Swiss Army Knife that was issued to cast and crew in celebration of the "Deep Cover" episode, as well as a German film card to promote the release of MacGyver on VHS there. Also, added a picture of Ja-Ru's 1986 series MacGyver binoculars set to the Merchandise page. And there's new promotional ads in the Promo and Press page in the Images section. I've also added another cool fanzine cover featuring a pencil drawing of MacGyver as well as a neat fanmade MacGyver T-shirt to the Fanwork page.

07/28/09 Added another picture of the MacGyver soundtrack in LP format, with the vinyl sticking out of the sleeve to the Merchandise page.

07/24/09 Got some exciting new finds on the Merchandise page! There's some new pictures of the Panini MacGyver stickers, and multiple language versions of the "Legend of the Holy Rose" (Parts 1 and 2) VHS release, including a clamshell version of the British release, the German videotape spine itself, and a newly discovered Portuguese version! :-) I've also got a link to the Amazon.co.uk page for the British PAL videotape.

07/10/09 Amazon.com now has the MacGyver Complete Series DVD set on sale for $99.99! Grab up this good deal while you can. :-)

07/04/09 "The bombs bursting in air gave proof through the night that our flag was still there..." May all the fireworks you've no doubt purchased out the wazoo add brilliant and colorful explosions of joy for living in a free country where our flag proudly waves and welcomes all. :-) Happy Independence Day! Have a happy and safe time! And let us take a moment to be truly thankful for the sacrifices made by the Minute Men and all the patriots who fought in the Revolutionary War to secure the United States of America as a free nation. As the Declaration of Independence beautifully tells us, "All men are created equal and endowed by their Creator certain unalienable rights, among these being life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness..." And in The Constitution, we "secure the Blessings of Liberty" for our country. As the secondary lines of our national anthem tell us - "Praise The Power that hath made and preserved us a nation. Then conquer we must, when our cause it is just, and this be our motto: 'In God is our trust.' And the Star Spangled Banner in triumph shall wave o'er the land of the free and the home of the brave." And as Psalms 33:12 tells us, "Blessed is the nation whose God is The Lord." May God bless you richly. And God bless the USA! :-) (and the rest of the world too, for that matter. ;-))

06/30/09 Got a new autographed MacGyver publicity photo on the Promo and Press page of the Images section, as well as a bit more information on the tie clasps/pins on the Merchandise section.

06/25/09 Added some cool fan drawings of MacGyver to the Fanwork section.

06/17/09 Quick mention on the Miscellaneous page of another MacGyver-inspired band name- New Zealand rock band "The Phoenix Foundation"! :-)

06/15/09 In a bit more MacGyver-related news, Will Forte has appeared on The Late Show with Jimmy Fallon to confirm the "MacGruber" movie in the works. He says it "may be different" than what you'd think. There's still no word on who all would actually be in it, especially in regards to Richard Dean Anderson making an appearance as the real MacGyver. You can read a bit more about it here and on many other blogs around the Internet.

06/09/09 Got some new pictures of Glasslite's Ferrari toy outside of the box on its individual page. There's also a new pin and another shot of the 100th. episode MacGyver Swiss Army Knife with the knife opened in the Merchandise section.

06/02/09 In MacGyver-related news, The Hollywood Reporter is reporting that Lorne Michaels of Saturday Night Live is considering doing a "MacGruber" movie, based on their popular MacGyver parody series. One wonders if Richard Dean Anderson might consider being in this movie as well as the actual MacGyver movie being planned. ;-)

04/28/09 Added a bunch of cool entries of MacGyver artwork, including a neat fanmade teaser poster for the MacGyver movie hopefully coming out in 2011 to the Fanwork page and entries for a MacGyver hair dresser business and a "MacGyver's Knife" rock band as well as some MacGyver web comics to the Miscellaneous page.

04/21/09 New MacGyver postcards pictures on the Merchandise page, as well as some cool promotional pictures for MacGyver on the Promotional and Press page and Various page in the Images section.

04/16/09 Added some pretty cool MacGyver stamps to the Fanwork page as well as a few more MacGyver postcards to the Merchandise page.

04/08/09 Found an interesting custom made MacGyver action figure, similar to the style of Mighty Muggs toys here. The link is also now on the Fanwork page. Check it out! :-) Also, I ran across some cool pictures of one of the MacGyver crew jackets, as expressly labeled! Check it out! The link's on the Merchandise page too.

04/04/09 In more MacGyver movie news, MacGyver Online is reporting that the owners of the original houseboat used as MacGyver's houseboat during Seasons 3-6 of MacGyver, have offered the houseboat to Raffaella Productions for use in the upcoming MacGyver movie! Whether or not it will actually be needed or used for the movie is another matter, but it's nice to know the owners are willing to let it be used again. Though MacGyver says his houseboat burned down in "The 'Hood" episode in Season 7, it's possible the houseboat could be in a flashback scene or perhaps MacGyver may have rebuilt it or bought a new one. (The houseboat has undergone some fairly extensive renovations since its MacGyver days. You can see some pictures from that on the MacGyver Online site.) Or the movie may even be set during the 3rd through 6th. seasons of MacGyver. We'll see what happens! :-)

04/01/09 No April Fool's joke here! I've added a new link on IMDB.com for the proposed MacGyver movie to the Links page. IMDB seems to indicate that the movie may be looking at a 2011 release!

03/26/09 Added a little bit to the MacGyverisms page with some information about a monetary incentive that was offered during the production of MacGyver for fans to come up with working MacGyverisms for the show to use. John Rich talks about this in his book, "Warm Up the Snake: A Hollywood Memoir" on pages 167-168. This is apparently where the idea for MacGyver using egg whites to plug up radiator leaks came from in the "Bushmaster" episode. That's pretty cool!

03/24/09 Three more MacGruber skits aired on Saturday Night Live on March 7, 2009 with Richard Dean Anderson again appearing as MacGyver! Check out these hilarious commercials archived on Kate's RDA site here. (And check out the rest of her excellent site while you're at it! ;-)) I've also added an entry to the Miscellaneous page for these new skits. Also, I added an entry to the Merchandise section of the site with a listing for the excellent book, "Warm Up the Snake" by John Rich, a memoir of his days in the television and film industry. He's worked on many classic shows including "Gunsmoke", "Bonanza", "Gilligan's Island", "The Brady Bunch" and numerous others, and of course- MacGyver! The book has some interesting behind-the-scenes stories about the filming of MacGyver! It's definitely worth checking out.

03/19/09 MacGyver movie news! According to The Hollywood Reporter and Mania.com, the MacGyver theatrical movie is indeed moving forward through New Line Cinema! "Raffaella De Laurentiis, daughter of Dino De Laurentiis, is producing through her Raffaella Productions along with Martha De Laurentiis and series creator Lee Zlotoff. Dino De Laurentiis is executive producing." (Also see this Reuters article from Monday, March 16th, 2009). Wow! It's great to hear some more news on this project. It looks like some things are starting to fall into place. The most important thing now will be to find the right writer who can deliver a script that appeals to a contemporary audience but still pays respect to the MacGyver television series. I'm encouraged by the comment in the article that New Line wants a script that delivers a "serious and fun adventure movie". That's exactly what it should be. I do not want to see a farce ala "The Brady Bunch" movies or "Charlie's Angels" movies or "Scooby-Doo" movies or "Starsky & Hutch" or "The Dukes of Hazzard", etc. MacGyver has been parodied plenty enough already on The Family Guy, The Simpsons and Saturday Night Live. Hopefully, Richard Dean Anderson can be persauded to come back and give his most famous character one last hurrah on the silver screen. If Harrison Ford can still crack the whip as Indiana Jones and Slyvester Stallone can still keep kicking as Rambo and Rocky, then Richard Dean Anderson can definitely still pull off MacGyver once more. Come on, MacGyver! :-) Also, I've got one other thing worth noting. As you can see in the Amazon.com links at the bottom of this page, the MacGyver series on DVD is now on sale at Amazon.com The price for each individual season is now $15.99 - For anyone who doesn't already own the series on DVD, here's a great price to jump in on! :-)

03/05/09 Added a link to a neat article from Relevant Magazine called "God Vs. MacGyver" to the MacGyver's Challenge page.

02/27/09 Ran across a nice MacGyver tribute online and added a blurb about it to the Miscellaneous page- a song called "MacGyver Blues" by My Little Pony. (Rest assured, that's the name of the band- it's not a crossover between MacGyver and the 1980s cartoon as I had at first feared. :-) Though that would be funny.) I've also added a link on the page for the Mythbusters Season 5 DVD set (released in 2008) as well as a Mythbusters Collection 4 DVD set (to be released May 5, 2009)- see TVshowsonDVD.com for details.

02/23/09 A little bit of neat MacGyver news for ya: CBS/Paramount has plans to release an "Action Packed" DVD set that contains the pilot episodes of many great shows, including the "Pilot" episode of MacGyver! Other shows included are Mission: Impossible (the 1966 series), Walker, Texas Ranger and NCIS. According to TVshowsonDVD.com, the set releases on May 26, 2009. However, Barnes and Noble has a release date of September 30, 2008 on their site and indeed, I have seen this release out on their shelves already. This may not be that big of a deal for the hardcore MacGyver fans who already have all the seasons on DVD, but it does make a neat little stocking stuffer for Christmas or a good way to introduce the MacGyver series to a prospective fan! :-)

02/20/09 A number of cool MacGyver additions to the site today! Check out the Images page to see a 1986 promotional ad for the "Countdown" episode of MacGyver in the Promo and Press section, as well as another MacGyver flyer in the Various section. Also, there's a new MacGyver watch/compass on the Merchandise page, as well as more pictures of the Panini MacGyver sticker book, a new soundtrack compilation containing the MacGyver theme song and more European MacGyver theme song LP single releases! And you can also try the "Which Action Hero are you?" quiz I found on the Internet through the link at the bottom of this page. According to the quiz, I would definitely be MacGyver! :-)

02/02/09 Exciting MacGyver appearance! On January 31, 2009, Richard Dean Anderson reprised his role as MacGyver (complete with his dirty blond mullet) in three "MacGruber" skits on Saturday Night Live, one of which aired during SuperBowl 43, which, by the way, the Pittsburgh Steelers won, 27-23 against the Arizona Cardinals. Check out these hilarious commercials archived on Kate's RDA site. And these links are also on the Miscellaneous page. Also, there's a better (bigger) picture of the French MacGyver theme song 45 single released in Europe on the Merchandise page. There's also a new stencil drawing of MacGyver on the Fanwork page, and a business that takes its name from MacGyver listed on the Miscellaneous page.

01/27/09 Added another shot of some French MacGyver postcards as well as a better cover picture of the "L'integrale MacGyver" book to the Merchandise page. There's also a really cool painting of a storyboard scene from MacGyver on there, most likely from the "Kill Zone" episode.

01/24/09 For those who can actually afford one, MacGyver episodes are now available on the iPhone! The Multimedia page has been updated with the link, as well as a cool Swiss Army Knife animated gif. There's also another promotional shot from the "Pilot" in the Images section in the Various area.

01/23/09 Got a new link on the Links page for The MacGyver Wiki, MacGyver's own database on Wikipedia! Also, be sure to pick up the 2009 Chick-Fil-A calendar and check out the December month- LOL! There's a great parody of MacGyver with a cow with the bomber jacket and mullet in a similar pose from the MasterCard commercial, with "MooGyver" tied up to a chair and trying to cut himself loose in time to defuse the bomb ticking in front of him! :-)

01/22/09 Exciting news for cable subscribers! MacGyver is back on TV! Yeah! :-) The MacGyver TV Schedule section has been updated accordingly. The Sleuth Channel has recently added MacGyver to its schedule. MacGyver will air weekdays at 4 AM and 7 AM, starting Monday, February 2nd! And check this out! The Sleuth Channel will have a MacGyver marathon on Sunday, February 22nd. from 6 AM to Monday, Febrary 23rd, 6 AM!!! WOW! After hoping for TV Land to do this for so long back when MacGyver was airing there, it's nice to see some channel finally doing a marathon for this incredible show! :-) So, in between church services on Feb. 22nd, looks like I'll have some serious MacGyver going on! :-) Also, a new MacGyver promotional flyer has been added to the Images section in the Various area.

01/13/09 Added a link to a sound clip from The Simpsons referencing MacGyver to the Miscellaneous page.

01/06/09 Happy New Year! Hope 2009 is indeed very fine for all of you and may God bless you richly! :-) Also, I've got another MacGyver crew jacket picture up on the Merchandise page. And 2008's news has been moved to the Old News page.

Which Action Hero Are You?

You are MacGyver. Ingenuity is your game. Don't leave home without your sundry office supplies: rubber bands, paper clips, and the like. Life and death situations are your forte, but you may be getting too old for it. In today's eyes you're an old legend, but your first season mullet will always be remembered.
