MacGyver Fanwork

On this page, I've included fanfiction, fanart, and any fanmade MacGyver memorabilia. If you have any pictures (photos, pics of props and replicas), fanfic, or computer files (video clips, sound clips, animated gifs, screenshots, computer games) that you've made or have found on the net, please send them to me at my Feedback page.

MacGyver Fanfiction

MacGyver "Virtual Seasons" 8 and 9 - MacGyver Virtual Seasons

There are also some pretty good MacGyver stories at http://www.fanfiction.net

Another popular printed form of fanfiction is available in what are called fanzines. These are printed documents containing fanfiction stories from one series or maybe many series, including crossovers, usually with really nice artwork. These could usually be found at comic book conventions or television show conventions throughout the 1980s and 1990s. I'm sure there's still some that are made today. I have found quite a few on Ebay, some of which have contained MacGyver stories.

Sneaky Uses for Everday Things

I have included this book on the Fanwork page because it is not an official line of MacGyver merchandise, but it is related. This is a book by Cy Tymony that tells people how to do MacGyver-style tricks with ordinary everday objects.
Publishers Weekly says about the book: "Offering readers a chance to become real- life MacGyvers, Tymony (Computer Gamer's Survival Guide) shares a mixed bag of useful and useless tricks. The book, which may remind 007s-in-training of The Worst-Case Scenario Survival Handbook, offers sections on gimmicks, gadgets and survival techniques (the last section is by far the most valuable). Still, adventurous, inquisitive teens may delight in a book that shows them how to 'use ordinary objects as sneaky weapons.' " Sneaky Uses for Everyday Things by Cy Tymony Andrews McMeel Publishing ISBN 0-7407-3859-3 Price $10.95 ($16.95 Canada) Paperback: 5 x 7, 176 pages For more information, see: www.sneakyuses.com

MacGuy, owner of the MacGyver News blog, has written a book called "The Unofficial MacGyver How-To Handbook", which is available for download in PDF format at Amazon.com The printed book should be forthcoming. The book explains, with illustrations, how MacGyver performed some of his cool MacGyverisms on the show and how you can perform them yourself at home! It looks like a neat collectible for MacGyver fans, priced at around $50. You can check out some excerpts from the book and a table of contents at MacGuy's site.

MacGyver Viewing Guide/ Fan Book

Here is an interesting item I found on Ebay. It is a book put together by a MacGyver fan, full of MacGyver information. It offers a complete episode guide, biographies for actors and actresses, a goofs guide, trivia, current television listings, and a easy reference episode listing. Check out the cover below.

MacGyver FanArt

Here's my own little attempt at drawing. As you can see, I'm not all that great at it.

I've finally found some other MacGyver drawings on the internet. The first drawing is actually part of a wallpaper, and that's the only picture I could find of the drawing. I also found another picture on a online 50th. birthday card for Richard Dean Anderson. Also, check out the drawing of MacGyver from the Danone promotion on the Merchandise page. I've also got a link to a beautiful colored pencil drawing of MacGyver I found. Check it out here. Also check out this pencil drawing of MacGyver here.

Check out another fan's MacGyver artwork here. (Particularly on Pages 14 and 16.)

This is a promotional card for SCI-FI channel's season premiere of Farscape and Stargate SG-1 episodes from a few years back.

Here's a cool fanmade teaser poster for a possible theatrical MacGyver movie in 2011. :-)

This is the cover of a fanzine containing some MacGyver stories and featuring a nice MacGyver drawing on the cover.

Here's another issue of Rerun (#8) that has a nice pencil drawing of MacGyver.

Here's another issue of Rerun (#9) that has a nice pencil drawing of MacGyver.

This issue of Rerun (#10) also has a nice pencil drawing of MacGyver.

Here's an Airwolf and MacGyver fanzine that actually has pictures from the series on the cover.

Here's an issue of House Blend (#1) that has a nice picture of MacGyver and Dave Starsky on the cover. It was published in 2000 and has 210 pages worth of MacGyver, Starksy & Hutch, Highlander, The Sentinel, The Real Ghostbusters, The Professionals, and Wiseguy stories.

I have also seen some fanmade paintings and drawings of MacGyver for auction on Ebay before- you never know when more might pop up.

E-artreplicas.com has a oil painting portrait of MacGyver replicated from one of Richard Dean anderson's publicity photographs. You can view the original photograph and the painting, here or here. You can also purchase the portrait from the site.

Check out a cool Virtual Painting of MacGyver here.

And here's MacGyver contemplating his move while cooking!

Here's a fanmade Angus MacGyver Magic card!

And here's a beautiful pencil drawing of MacGyver!

Here's a funny stencil drawing of MacGyver.

And here's a cartoon-style illustration of MacGyver.

Here's some Andy Warhol inspired MacGyver art.

Check out this great MacGyver pencil drawing here and another one here.

And MacGyver lives on in local graffiti.

This is a pretty neat MacGyver gif file.

Here's some really cool gif renderings of MacGyver from MicroHeroes International. Here's an early seasons version and here's the mullet version.

MacGyver Fanzines

Fanzines are magazines put together by fans, containing original stories, artwork, poetry, and songs. I have seen a few pop up on Ebay, and here are the covers for a few of them.

MacGyver Video Games

As far as I know, no MacGyver video games were made officially. However, I have found one fanmade MacGyver PC game. Take a look at a screenshot from the game below.
I've also run across a MacGyver flash game online. Check it out here.
If anyone knows anything about computer programming, especially in C++ and would be interested in working on a MacGyver PC game, please contact me through my feedback page.

MacGyver Custom Made Action Figures

I recently found this on Ebay. From Jason P. Stalnaker of Delusions of Grandeur Toys, here is a custom made MacGyver action figure. The figure is made from an existing A-Team figure, it's super-sculpty and is hand painted. It has been given a gloss coat for protection and comes reboxed. This figure does have the traditional MacGyver brown bomber jacket, jeans and sneakers. It also comes with a Swiss Army Knife. I have also seen figures for Pete Thornton, Jack Dalton, and Murdoc on Ebay, all by Delusions of Grandeur Toys. They all seem to be 9 inches tall and pretty good renditions, although I think the Jack Dalton figure looks the closest. Check out the pictures.

Here is a 1 foot tall MacGyver action figure from the same company. This one comes with a jeep similar to the one MacGyver used in the series. What's really cool is that the figure comes with a real working Swiss Army Knife model and can hold it! Too bad they got the color on the jeep wrong though. Check out the pictures below.

Here's another pretty cool custom made MacGyver action figure I found on Ebay.

Also, check out the Movies, Models & Techniques, Costumes & Props, Star Walkers and Animations web site. There is an excellent model of MacGyver's Wrangler jeep on a 1/24 scale, as well as a MacGyver action figure converted from a Han Solo figure.

And this is a 12 inch custom made MacGyver action figure, also seen on Ebay. (Note the mullet! ;-))

Pretty cool custom made MacGyver action figure by Sillof

Here's an interesting custom made MacGyver action figure, similar to the style of Mighty Muggs toys here. It also comes with a Swiss Army Knife and duct tape and custom packaging.

Check out this cool LEGO version of MacGyver! :-)

Here's another custom made MacGyver action figure seen on Ebay, this one in the 12'' scale, complete with passport and Swiss Army Knife accessories!

Another nice custom MacGyver action figure, from Sillof.

MacGyver Music Videos

Check out this cool site, Mac's Your Man, for a lot of really cool music videos that infuse scenes from MacGyver with cool songs that makes for a neat combination.

There's also Starre's MacGyver Portal which has a MacGyver music video set to the song "Everybody" by Vanessa Amorossi!

And don't forget to check outYuli's MacGyver Fan Site for even more MacGyver music videos!

MacGyver Fan Films

Check out this site, for a fan film called "MakKaiver". I think it's more of a parody than a serious film though. Also, there's a French parody of MacGyver fan film available at this site. And check out this German MacGyver fan film at this site.

And you can always go to Youtube and find plenty of MacGyver homages/parodies and music videos.

Check out this cool fanmade animated MacGyver intro. Wouldn't that make for a neat MacGyver video game? :-)

Check out this pretty funny and goofy parody of "Hey There Delilah" by The Plain White T's entitled "Hey There MacGyver" from Granger Community Church in Indiana.

Here's my own little parody of "Survivor" by Destiny's Child, entitled (of course!)- "MacGyver". :-) "MacGyver"

MacGyver Memorabilia

Here's a picture of a bomber jacket similar to the one Mac wore during most of the first few seasons.

MacGyver let Jennifer Reiner wear a jersey just like this one in "Runners".

MacGyver T-Shirts

I've seen alot of these on Ebay. These are basically custom made celebrity T-shirts done by a company. Here a few ones I've seen

of Richard Dean Anderson.

I'm assuming this one means that a paper clip, screwdriver and MacGyver equals dynamite! (That is to say, that MacGyver is dynamite, not that he makes dynamite! Or as J.J. on Good Times would say, "Dy-no-mite!")

Here's a shirt done by a company called Cabdriver Casual.

And here's a nice "I love MacGyver" T-shirt and hoodie set.

Here's a funny shirt promoting a supposed campaign for MacGyver as President of the United States of America in 2008 :-)

Here's a pretty neat MacGyver T-shirt listing all the episodes from all 7 seasons!

I'm considering this fanwork because I'm pretty sure it's not officially licensed, but if you want to purchase some MacGyver T-shirts, there are some available at 80stees.com.

These look like more celebrity items done by a company. I've seen these pop up on Ebay from time to time.

MacGyver Hats

This one is done by an Argentina-based company called Amos Del Retro.

MacGyver KeyChains

MacGyver Magnets

MacGyver Snowglobe

MacGyver Coaster

MacGyver Mousepad

MacGyver Calendar

MacGyver Lighter

Hardly seems in keeping with the spirit of the show, but I'm sure MacGyver can find plenty of uses for lighters other than smoking ;-)

MacGyver Belt Buckle

MacGyver Pillow Cases

Wow! I've even seen MacGyver pillow cases on Ebay! Now, this would be cool if it was an actual officially merchandised item like all the sleeping bag and pillow sets I've seen for other 1980s shows. But this is obviously an unofficial fanmade item, which was apparently being offered with the choice of two different pictures of Richard Dean Anderson bare chested.

MacGyver Street Signs

MacGyver License Plates

MacGyver Bumper Stickers

MacGyver Charm Bracelets

Hey, you've got to have your MacGyver swag. And what better way to show off the bling bling than have the Mac thing going on? (Okay, that's enough of my attempt to be hip and cool and down with all the new funky phrases! :-) Check out this awesome, radical and totally gnarly and bodacious charm bracelet that I found for auction on Ebay. Maybe you can have one and be the life of the party. "Be excellent to each other and party on dudes!"

MacGyver Clocks

MacGyver Watches

MacGyver ID cards

A television fan on Ebay has put has been selling custom made ID cards for various shows, and here's pictures of the really cool ones she's made for MacGyver. :-)

MacGyver Ice Hockey Puck

I'm not sure where this comes from. It might be a fanmade item, but it might also come from one of the many celebrity charity ice hockey games Richard Dean Anderson has participated in.

MacGyver Stamps

I'm not positive where this comes from exactly, but it looks like it may have been a promotional item that came with a local television viewing guide. Or it may be totally fanmade. Either way, it looks really cool!

Richard Dean Anderson- MacGyver FanClub

I'm pretty sure this is an unofficial fan club thing too, because as far as I know Richard Dean Anderson does not have an "official" fan club and doesn't wish to start one. However, it appears the club sent out newsletters with information about MacGyver and things Richard Dean Anderson was going to be involved in.

MacGyver Buttons

I'm pretty sure these are all fanmade. The picture of Richard Dean Anderson with Dana Elcar (Pete) and the picture of Richard Dean Anderson by the wheat in the first picture are from MacGyver and the rest are from StarGate SG-1.

MacGyver Salt and Pepper Shakers

Supposedly, these were available only through a television special offer, as part of a collection of classic television show salt and pepper shakers. They are made to look like television sets airing an episode of MacGyver, as you can tell from the pictures below. Nonetheless, I tend to think they're unofficial.

MacGyver Conventions

I don't know if MacGyver conventions were ever actually held, but I've heard talk about how there might have been some in the 80s or 90s. Since those things generally are totally fan-run, there's a good possibility that there might have been one. It definitely would have been cool to attend one. On March 6, 1998, The Museum of Television and Radio honored MacGyver for excellence in television at the William S. Paley Television Festival with a question-and-answer seminar, featuring Dana Elcar and Richard Dean Anderson along with the creative team behind MacGyver. Clips of MacGyver references from "Mad About You" and "The Simpsons" were used to introduce the seminar and a MacGyver episode screening of "Rock the Cradle" was shown. Check out pictures and a transcript of the whole MacGyver seminar at Kate's great Richard Dean Anderson site!
